Out of sheer necessity was this pattern created. In 2006 I made it to warm the head of my third child after realizing the majority of the newborn hats I made for her were too short. I was amazed at how long it actually fit her (about 2.5 months) Since then, this pattern has become a mainstay for me when knitting a gift for a friend or knitting for charity.

This hat is a fantastic stash buster as it takes very little yarn-the perfect solution to those odd balls of leftovers! There is a lot of room for improvisation with different stitch patterns on the brim, adding stripes, cables, pom poms, intarsia or whatever your heart desires. Because it is knit up on 10.5 needles it is very quick and the fit is perfect!

Happy Knitting, Friends.
